Removable Partial Denture Design book. Read reviews from world’s largest community for readers/5(6).

A removable partial denture (RPD) is a denture for a partially edentulous patient who desires to have replacement teeth for functional or aesthetic reasons and who cannot have a bridge (a fixed partial denture) for any reason, such as a lack of required teeth to serve as support for a bridge (i.e. distal abutments) or financial type of prosthesis is referred to as a removable. This book is designed to give a practical introduction to designing partial dentures. It does not discuss clinical procedures but concentrates on the design of the denture prior to any clinical treatment or definitive impression being taken.

Alan B. Carr DMD, MS, David T. Brown DDS, MS, in McCracken's Removable Partial Prosthodontics (Twelfth Edition), Tooth-Supported Partial Denture Base. Denture bases differ in functional purpose and may differ in terms of the material of which they are made. In a tooth-supported prosthesis, the denture base is primarily a span between two abutments supporting artificial teeth. The result is a highly readable book, which is not intended to replace a standard textbook on prosthetics but to serve as a chair-side guide or aide-memoire of clinical procedures for the clinician with an interest in complete denture therapy.
